A few months ago we presented "Entre raíces y circuitos" composed and produced by Fer Mercadal (Feat. Conrado Vassia) "Añejo" is one of the songs included on that album, and after the release, it took a trip across the world , to return today as a remix EP.
In practice, production of remixes usually involves two roads, taking the song to the dance floor or capturing other ideas from a more experimental approach: thus was born Añejo EP.
Using the track of this song and with complete freedom to do anything, Suzuka Macaron , Hideki Takimoto , Ryusuke Ikeda , Seiji Takahashi, Sanpo Matsumoto and Yano Munenori  brought a new perspective on the -large- distance, making together an album of six songs that both are the same, maybe snapshots of a dream trip.
Technically, the album is a good sample of independent, electronic music scene in Japan: a clean sound, minimalist and refined , climates and textures, loops as mantras and a good dose of noisiness. Except Sanpo Matsuoto (NY, USA) all these artists live in different points of Japan, and from their home studios, make this remixes, then mastered in Argentina, at La Pua Studio by Gustavo Sam Maciel and Fer Mercadal.

Comicom group show

 Sanpo will join the Comicom group show at Con Artist gallery.
 

Pictures have always told stories. The 1940s and ‘50s saw the Golden Age of Comics establish comics as an artform the world over. With their vivid aesthetics, sequential cartoons communicate ideas in a way mere words cannot. Comics are now a mainstay of pop culture, infiltrating books, movies, video games, media far and wide. The main conduits are Comic Conventions, including the New York Comic Con.

CONICON (see what we did there?) is a group show featuring comics and Comic Con inspired art. Con Artist’s daring exploration ranges from superheroes and comic strips (POW!) to 3D characters (WHUMPH!) to manga, ドキン! ...and beyond (BANG!). Juxtaposing eclectic works will create curious and arresting narratives and open up new discussions about this genre of storytelling. CONICON will open the same week as New York Comic Con... Excelsior!

We are pleased to announce a new exhibition entitled Problematic,
curated by artist Sessa Englund. The exhibition demonstrates work that engages with art’s most paradoxical natures and will include works by members of the Con Artist Collective:
Laura Tack, Ko Irkt, Michael Sharp, Miranda Nichols, Olivia Fox, Charles Allen, Chris Simon, Cody Oyama, Saroj Patel, Matsumoto Sanpo, Natania Frydman, Shaina Yang and Eric Steginsky.
Art inhabits a space in-between subjects: It embodies a reflection of the past and a creation of the future, a movement towards order and disorder within its own entity. Using this subject as a starting point, this exhibition deals primarily in the way in which contradiction and conflict within the artist can become inspirational to his/her path toward art-making that is investigational, divisive and explorational.
The fifteen invited artists were asked to center their process on three contradictions which they perceive to be inherent in the contemporary practice of art: art as rejuvenator and self-destructor, art as both dependent and independent upon consumerism, and art as both a heightening and an obfuscating agent in our attempt to perceive reality. The resultant exhibition displays a variety of work all speaking to the individual artists’ struggle with the common paradoxes of the artistic practice.

Sessa Englund is a multi dimensional artists living in Brooklyn. Solo shows include the upcoming “Incomplete Response”, 119 Ludlow, NYC, “Solo Solo-Solo”, Roten 2, Gothenburg, “You Missed It”, Grace Exhibition Space, “Flowers of Habit”, School of Art+Design, Purchase.
